Entry Requirements
No formal qualifications are required but applicants must demonstrate
competence in the English Language by the attainment of one of the
following (or equivalent):
- British Council - Intermediate Certificate in English/Upper Advanced
Certificate in English.
- LCCI - English for Business (EFB) lst or 2nd Level.
- Pitman/City & Guilds - English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)/English
for Business Communications.
- RSA (OCR) - English Language Stage II. Or
- Confirmation by their college of an equivalent standard in the use of
English.
Exemptions
Consideration will be given to:
- Applicants who have passed Pitmans or LCCI examinations at the
appropriate level in Numeracy, Basic Statistics and Business English.
- Applicants who have obtained a qualification relevant to the Certificate
Course (this will be at the discretion of the Registrar).
NOTE: No exemptions will be granted from any subject previously failed in
the examinations of the Association, and no exemptions whatsoever are
given from any of the Advanced Diploma examinations.

Diploma Part 1 Examinations
The three compulsory papers are:
- Computer Fundamentals
- Computer Applications in Business and Finance
- Business Communication and Presentation
Students must also pass examinations in one of the following papers:
- Organizational Behavior (Management Pathway)
- Accounting (Finance Pathway)

Diploma Part 2 Examinations
The four compulsory papers are:
- Principles of Programming
- Networks and Distributed Systems
- Quantitative Methods
- Systems Analysis
Students must also pass examinations in one of the following papers:
- Human Resource Management (Management Pathway)
- Managerial Accounting (Finance Pathway)
Entry Requirements - Diploma Parts 1 and 2
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and should be recommended by
two responsible persons. They must also have attained one of the following
entry qualifications:
- ABE Certificate in Business Administration.
- Two GCE 'A' levels together with four GCSEs at Grade C or above,
including English Language and Maths.
- BTEC National award in relevant subjects.
- Three passes in LCCI Third Level in relevant subjects.
- Three passes in RSA examinations, at least two of which must be at Stage
III.
- Pitmans Qualifications - Three passes at Level 3 in relevant subjects.
- An 'Access' Certificate from a UK College of Further Education.
- Any NCVQ approved qualifications at Level 3 in relevant subjects.
- Overseas qualifications which follow University of London guidelines may
be accepted by the Registrar as being equivalent to the above.
It is the policy of the Association to encourage and help to further
the careers of those who, through circumstances, have not followed one of
the traditional education routes. To this end, it welcomes application for
student membership from persons over 21 who, although not holding a formal
entry qualification, have been in appropriate employment for at least two
years.
Exemptions
Exemptions from Diploma Part 1 and Diploma Part 2 subjects (up to a
maximum of six subjects) may be granted to holders of qualifications of
certain professional bodies, provided always that such qualifications have
been obtained by examination. Similarly, holders of ABE qualifications can
obtain exemptions from subject examinations of a number of these
professional bodies.

the examinations of the Association, and no exemptions whatsoever are
given from any of the Advanced Diploma examinations.
Course Duration
Certificate, Diploma Parts 1 and 2: two to three years' full-time study.

Advanced Diploma Examinations
The four compulsory papers are:
- Contemporary Application Development Methods
- Managing Systems Change
- Relational Database Applications in Business
- Internet Systems Development
Students must also pass examinations in one of the following papers:
- Strategic Human Resource Management (Management Pathway)
- Corporate Finance (Finance Pathway)
Entry Requirements
The following are qualified to sit the Advanced Diploma examinations:
- Students who have successfully completed the Diploma examinations.
- Students who have been granted complete exemption from the Certificate
and Diploma by virtue of holding one of the following:
- A degree in a relevant discipline, i.e. Business Studies, Business
Administration, Management Science, Accountancy, or Business Information
Technology, awarded by a recognized UK or Overseas University, or
validated by the UK Council for National Academic Awards (CNAA).
- A first or upper-second class Honors degree in the Humanities, Sciences
or Engineering from a recognized institution.
- A lower-second or third class Honors degree or pass degree in the
Humanities, Sciences or Engineering from a recognized institution,
together with at least two years' experience in a position of
administrative, managerial or executive responsibility.
- A BTEC Higher National Award in Business Studies at Grade C or above.
- The final professional examinations of certain professional bodies.
- A Diploma in Management Studies awarded by a Polytechnic or Institute of
Higher Education and validated by the CNAA.
- Other recognized qualification of an approved overseas university.
Exemptions
No exemption is granted from any subject in the Advanced Diploma.
Course Duration
One year full-time study.
